I guess it's sweet like its score. This score is special because it's played by violin solo. The player is the well known violinist Mr. Joshua Bell. The melody and smooth are well set. James Horner did not use his old set of orchestra to play this score like many many scores he has abused. A decent treat for the Horner's fan and also for the one who does not like his style much. Regarding this special composer, I think I have to post more stuff to cover his works a bit. This score definitely is not his best or beloved by many film score fans. However, I can enjoy it every time by its simplicity, pure mood and uplifting melody.

Torrent of the score is here. I was impressed and haunted by his music when I was a boy. I didn't know who he is and even what the hell a film score is. I remember in 1978, the local TV (at that time is still broadcasted in black and white) got a French TV show: "Jacquou Le Croquant". I was haunted by the main theme guitar played. This is perhaps my fisrt encounter with film score even I don't know what it is. Later, when I started collect film scores with study and cares, Georges Delerue becomes my all time favorite composer by his sweet and rich melodies. He's so "French" so that while rambling in Paris streets or French countryside, I feel the only suitable musics are his themes like Pick Up Artist or The Last Metro...

This double CD is a great selection of Delerue film music. We got here the music he wrote for Oliver Stone's Platoon and Francois Truffaut movies. However, for Vietnamese like me, lack of "Concerto de l'Adieu" from Pierre Schoendoerffer's Dien Bien Phu seems a big hole.

Download the 2 CDs set here and the score of Dien Bien Phu here

Two Italian horror scores!

Well, this is my 2nd post after a while of discontinuation due to my business as well as my lazyness.... Today, by coincidence I found a score that I used to listen a lot in 2001-2002. This a double scores in 1 CD named Spasmo by Ennio Morricone: containing "Spasmo" (aka Death Dealer, The (1974, United States, cut version) and "Cosa Avete Fatto A Solange". These are typically dark and creepy tunes written by Morricone. The highlight here is a beautiful theme plus numerous horror sounds that the Maestro composed and formed his style for giallo film. The track I like most is Cosa Avete Fatto a Solange. This melody made me remember the late walks alone during my stay in Rome: sad, beautiful and cold. The heaviest track is of course "Stress Infinito" with 20 minutes non stop of dissonant sounds. It can make us get stress. The rest are tracks played by guitar and jazz drum, organ in the 70' style. We can find same style in a lot of score Morricone wrote in 70' and mostly for Itatlian giallo films.

Download torrent here and join me to seed this awesome music!

Once Upon A Time ...

I think I should start by this great score.
